Well the time is fast approaching. A busy week ahead sorting out the final details plus off to London on Thursday night to an event hosted by South Africa Tourism featuring Charley Boorman and Julia Bradbury. I plan to leave UK on 11th February and start my solo tour of some 6000km’s on Monday 18th Feb.
The route will see me take in some of the most spectacular National Parks in South Africa including Agulhas, Bontebok, Wilderness, Storms River Mouth, Golden Gate, Augrabies Falls, Namakwa and Table Mountain. There will be other stops in between and I hope to send you photographs and blog updates from these points as I ride around the country. One particular ride I am looking forward to is the Sani Pass and a visit to the highest Pub in the world.
I will be taking a few days rest to visit friends up at Moholoholo Forest Camp in Limpopo Province then continuing my ride back down to Cape Town via the West coast. I am aiming to arrive back in CT around 29th/30 March.
If you think I maybe passing you somewhere along the route then please get in touch and we can catch up along the way. Thanks go out to Cape Bike Rentals for the use of the KLR650 and to SANParks for their assistance in arranging accommodation in the National Parks. Please share this event with your friends and hopefully they will follow the progress also.
A basic route map can be seen HERE.
Technology permitting I will be able to stay in touch the whole time I am traveling so if you want to leave some messages of encouragement to keep me going, please do!!
