What a fantastic week it has been. Over the past seven days I have been busy finalising details for my forthcoming trip to South Africa as well as sealing a deal for what promises to be one of our best trips yet.
Last Thursday I was invited by South African Tourism to an event in London which was held to showcase tourism in South Africa. The evening consisted of some great networking opportunities as well as a Q n A session with Charley Boorman who was interview by the lovely Julia Bradbury who has done such programes as Wainwrights Walks and also did a program that followed her walking in the Kruger National Park. There was also a showing of the highlights of Charley s show currently on Channel Five in which he and his team ride and drive around South Africa on a route very similar to the one I am riding solo starting on 18th Feburary 2013.. The event also showcased a brand new ZULU Ballet which will be in London later this year called INALA.
As if all this wasnt enough along with the fine tuning of my route and accom bookings etc I was over the moon to finally be able to release a tour for October 2013 lead by none other than Adventure Travel Writer and Author Sam Manicom. Sam who has written such books as Into Africa and Distant Suns has agreed to lead a tour for Kaapstad Motorcycle Tours. This tour will consist of 12 days in South Africa with 10 full days of riding on some of the best roads you will have ever seen. There are just Ten rider places on this tour and I really dont expect them to be around for long.
This coming Sunday will see me heading to The Times Destinations Show at Earls Court where I hope to continue with the networking and promotions. Already 2013/2014 season is looking mega busy so long may it continue.
Dont forget that I will be blogging to this page as I ride around the country ( SA ) solo and I will be more than happy if anyone wants to drop me a line or Skype me along the way. All buttons on the website .
You can also keep up with the trip as it happens by following me on Twitter
Finally just a quick mention and a big thankyou to all the companies that have helped me get this tour together. SANParks, Talking Stick, South African Tourism, Cape Town Tourism, Kallaway PR South African Airways and Cape Bike Rentals.
