It’s been a great couple of weeks as far as planning the trip goes.

Donations of kit and riding equipment have arrived today from our friends at Bike-It. I popped up to collect the kit from local Bike-It dealer Ian Summerfield of Buzzard Motorcycle Engineering at his premises in Wing.

My route is pretty much sorted too now I will be leaving the Viper Lounge (bar) at 0900hrs on 23rd November and heading up the west coast of SA to Springbok. From here I will be stopping over at the following places. NAMIBIA…. Fish River Canyon, Aus, Namib Desert Lodge, Swakopmund, Damara Mopane Lodge, Etosha National Park, Tsumeb, Hakusembe and finally Namushasha River Lodge.

Victoria FallsFrom here I will cross over to Botswana briefly before I enter Zimbabwe where I will be spending a couple of days at Victoria Falls. I will then make my way to Hwange national park, Bulawayo the Great Zimbabwe Ruins near Masvingo then head back to Matopos National Park. I aim to leave Zimbabwe via Beitbridge border control on 19th December and head down to Moholoholo Forest Camp where I will be helping out over Xmas and New Year as usual.

Reserve protection agencyIt hasn’t been fully confirmed as yet and will depend on operational needs at the time but I have been given clearance by the South African Army to spend some time out in the field with their Anti Poaching unit. This alongside a close up look at the training given by RPA ….Reserve Protection Agency who train individuals for private reserves. I am hoping to arrive back in Cape Town by 10th January 2014 ready for a quick visit home before I head back to start all over again.

As always I will be riding solo during this trip with no back up vehicles purely to give me the freedom to ride where and when I want. Plus also to show anyone willing to read the blogs that Southern Africa is a great place to explore.

All this and a whole bunch of tours for some very lucky clients including the readers of Overland Magazine who will be flying out in early February for a 12 days tour. Plus the folks who jumped at the chance to try out our new look Kudu Tour. Who knows what we will be offering next……. I have some great ideas for 2015 so keep following the blogs and tweets. Oh and make sure you watch the travel channel this coming Monday at 20.00hrs. Henry. Coles new series of The Worlds Greatest Motorcycle Rides in South Africa……you may see someone you know!!!

Don’t forget you can still help the cause by making a small donation at the GoFundMe page.
